The Ronald Courtney Institute

ART ON THE MOVE partnered with artist Jessee Lee Johns to realise The Ronald Courtney Institute, a site-responsive installation at Karribank in Porongurup on Menang Noongar Country. This project was AOTM's first fully site-specific installation within a regional landscape delivered since 2002.

The Institute formed part of Johns’ ongoing artistic framework, The Commonwealth of New Bayswater, a micro-nation inspired by civic institutions. Conceived as a ‘diplomatic mission’, it operated as a temporary cultural hub, which hosted performances, guided tours, storytelling, communal meals, and live music. Grand Opening: Saturday April 19
