The Monaro car was a clear and deliberate statement by Holden of national identity in its design, title and marketing concepts. Approximately 25 works using the Holden Monaro as a metaphor for contemporary Australian culture were included in the show. The exhibition encompassed the Monaros of non-artists, craftspeople, hobbyists and high profile public figures.
