Reel to Real

Reel to Real shifted the focus and perception of those interested in contemporary visual art away from the traditional forms of mainstream photographic practice, toward a more exploitative use of that medium. Technical advances, changing public and critical opinion encouraged photographic works and practitioners to be seen in an accepted 'fine art' context. This exhibition exposed the viewer to newer readings of photography and invited further interpretation of its development in mainstream art practices.
