Kindred Spirits Expressions in Kiln-formed Glass

Australia is foremost in the world in the development of kiln-formed glass and lan Dixon has carried forward glass making as art by exploring and exploiting its possibilities. His sensuous works are influenced by the powerful designs and colours of Aboriginal, Pre-Columbian and African cultures, lan Dixon presented large scale works that exemplify the seductive nature of glass – its translucence, its colour, its complexity. At the time of this exhibition, he was the only glass artist in WA producing such large scale works, many of which were over a metre in length.
