How Did I Get Here

How Did I Get Here? was the first capsule exhibition from The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) State Art Collection featuring video and photographic works by seven Australian contemporary artists. These works were interwoven with complementary pieces from the local art collections; asking the question ‘How Did I Get Here?’ inviting audiences to contemplate how their relationships and environments define their sense of self.

ART ON THE MOVE and AGWA came together for the Regional Exhibition Touring Boost (RETB), funded by the State Government, to develop a new WA regional touring program called Freighting Ideas. This collaborative touring model challenged traditional touring processes and aimed to develop genuine relationships, meaningful encounters, community connections and the contribution of many different voices.
