Climate Change in Western Australia

The exhibition Pictures of a Changing Climate, brought the evidence of our changing world to audiences throughout Western Australia to help us all reduce our impact on the natural systems that support our lives.

There were four components that moved from a global to a local perspective. Award-winning professional and amateur photographers outlined the world through the eyes of people from the Arctic to Western Australia. Pictures of a Changing Climate was a truly personal experience, connecting our actions with the livelihoods of others in distant places.

Overview

1. NorthSouthEastWest – The Climate Group’s Climate Change Exhibition, an international photographic display, coordinated by The Climate Group, containing 22 A1 images, contributed by well-known identities such as Kofi Annan and David Suzuki.

2. Natural Australian Icons – Ten images taken from five areas across Australia (excluding WA) threatened by climate change, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Murray Darling River.

3. Western Australian Climate Change Photographic Competition – Ten winning images selected from the 2006 competition encouraging Western Australians to represent climate change from a local perspective. Winners: Annette Kent, Richard Tokin, Ken Ming Ng, Grant Currall, Eliza Thomas, Aimee Silla, Heidi Ripley, Erin Nota, Isabella Sheppard, Jeremy Forbes.

4. Making a Change for our Climate – a ‘snapshot’ of the state’s achievements and initiatives taken to tackle climate change.
